Food (5/5 stars): TJ Tacos is the best taqueria in North County and one of my all-time favorite taquerias. Their adobada tacos are immaculate; each bite is an explosion of flavor. Top it off with their avocado salsa... chef's kiss! This has been one of my favorite meals of 2022
Experience (5/5 stars): * Price: reasonable * Wait Time: not bad * Service: very good and friendly * Parking: they have a parking lot * Ambiance: it's a simple taqueria with lots of indoor seating
A great alternative to Tacos El Gordo without having to drive all the way down. We frequent this place whenever we're in Escondido and love that they have a drive-thru. While the drive-thru moves slowly, we love the convenience and they have always gotten our orders right, even when we order a variety of different tacos.
Usuals are the carne asada, adobada, lengua, and tripa. 3-4 tacos are usually more than enough for a meal, but if you're hungry, order 5-6. The tacos are loaded with salsas and toppings and they'll usually throw in a few of their red and green salsas with your order. I have never ordered inside so I'm not sure of their process but by the pictures, it looks very similar to TEG.
Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for authentic street tacos.
This spot was recommended by a friend and he was right on - so delicious. It's my new favorite taco spot in San Diego. It's clean, fast, friendly and the best darn tacos in SD. My son and his friend had the California Burritos and I had one adobo taco and one carne asada taco. Each of us were more than satisfied. I did like the adobado taco a tad better just because the meat was savory and tender and juicy. Can't wait to go again.
Delicious ! The Adobada and Carne Asada fries were the best i've ever had (Must get!). The adobada mujita was also really good. Definitely get anything with carne asada or adobada! The other meats were ok, just a little dry. Overall, good prices and they also have some fun fountain drinks
The tacos are a bit on the pricey side however they are delicious. Go when the line isn't super long.
Best tacos in town Thanks order the tacos with green sausage they are so good, an ice cold beer
Came in because of the good reviews and damn are the adobaba tacos delicious. Two tacos and splitting the adobaba fries with my brother, made a fine meal.
Just as good as the roadside taco stands in Tijuana!
Stopped here on our way home from san diego. Recommended by friends. As an ex-fan of tacos el gordo, we were looking for the next best thing and we have found it! Food was on point. Got campechana fries and tacos de adobada and suadero. Its been years since we were on the hunt for good tasting suadero and this was it! We loved that the meat was not dripping in oil either. My husband was blown away by the adobada. He wont stop telling people about it! Cant wait to come back!
